Musicians Info is part of the Musicgroups.com network of sites. Each site in our network allowed bands and musicians to host music and links to the web for free in private dedicated pages. These page could be upgraded to dot coms and the band would be in-charge of the site, social network, fans and advertising to sell direct.
Main issue - we were not funded and did this in 1998 pre youtube - pre myspace -pre google The web of today is about tracking, monitoring and to monetize other peoples efforts. We hope to change that! Musicians Info has a single basic goal. Hold data and info about the bands and musicians on the network and share that info in the semantic formate required by the SOLID framework Solid uses a term called POD ( a place to store data-music-photos-videos) that is then shared to music sites via a metaphor on the web called the Semantic web. Our original systems were based on the same ideas that an artist should be incharge of all assets and share them between sites. The Musicgroups.com Network was built on that same foundational concept 20 years ago.
Solid (Social Linked Data) is a web decentralization project led by Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web. The project is run from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The project "aims to radically change the way Web applications work today, resulting in true data ownership as well as improved privacy" by developing a platform for linked-data applications that are completely decentralized and fully under users' control rather than controlled by other entities.
The goal today is to merge our lost technologies prep them for our new network and make them available to our users PODS. This is evolving fast and we need your help!
